Small choices can make a meaningful difference

Oxa Care is home to our residents, and we want to look after the environment around them with the same care and attention. That means finding practical ways to reduce unnecessary waste and make better use of resources, while always putting residents’ comfort, safety and wellbeing first.

What we’re doing today and where we’re heading

For us, sustainability is a journey. We’re starting with practical changes that make sense for our residents, our team and our home.

Small changes we’re making today

From planning meals more carefully to ordering clinical supplies based on individual needs, we’re conscious of avoiding unnecessary waste. We also consolidate supplier deliveries where possible, helping us make everyday operations a little more considered.

Continuing to learn and improve

We don’t pretend to have all the answers. What we can do is keep asking where we can make a positive change. We’ll continue exploring realistic ways to reduce waste and use resources more thoughtfully, while ensuring resident care always comes first.

Little things that help us waste less

Being more mindful can start with simple choices. We look for ways to reduce unnecessary waste without compromising care.

Making the most of our food

Thoughtful food planning helps reduce unnecessary waste while keeping quality and resident enjoyment at the forefront of mind.

Ordering what residents need

We match clinical supply orders to assessed resident needs, helping us use resources thoughtfully and avoid excess.

Fewer unnecessary deliveries

Where practical, we consolidate supplier deliveries to reduce unnecessary trips while keeping our home well supplied.

Responsibility goes beyond reducing waste

Being responsible is also about how we care for people. Our decisions are guided by resident wellbeing, thoughtful use of resources and high standards of care.

Caring for people is part of our responsibility

For us, being responsible is about more than the resources we use. It is also about creating a caring, inclusive home where residents feel respected, supported and part of a community.

  • We get to know each resident, including the routines and preferences that help them feel at home.
  • We listen to what matters to residents and respect their identity, culture, beliefs and choices.
  • We support residents in maintaining the relationships that matter to them and in choosing how they participate in community life.
  • We consider each resident’s comfort, dignity and well-being in the decisions we make each day.
  • We work closely with families to better understand the person behind each individual care plan.

High standards you can feel confident in

We meet the standards required of aged care providers, helping residents and families feel confident in our care.
